It’s interesting to look back at earlier versions of maps to see how things have changed from the way they were perceived many years ago. Before early travelers set out to either prove or disclaim the opinions of scholars, the world was at their mercy, along with their interpretation of it’s design.

How exciting it must have been for those first brave few to step out onto the open sea, not knowing their fate. what we would now consider ancient they looked upon as their version of current technology.

These points of reference are now sought after by many, not only for their nostalgic charm, but for a glimpse into the past and what it held at that time. A common setting for these relics is to frame them and hang them on a wall in a study or a private library. There’s something about the look of one behind a desk that reflects to just how small we as humans really are in relation to the earth.

This distinctively shows all mountain ranges with varying heights. the layout gives it a 3D appearance and really brings things into perspective.
