Last week: 10-4
Season record: 90-40
Ah, the return of Thursday night football! I don’t care who is playing, it’s football on Thursday and always a welcome thing at the mid-point of the season. So here are my picks for Week 10…..
Oakland at San Diego–one game separates every team in the AFC West. These two are tied with the Chiefs atop the division at 4-4. If ties were more common, I would pick a tie here. Chargers 23, Raiders 17
New Orleans at Atlanta–Julio Jones is back from injury and emerging as an extremely dangerous receiver. the Saints are a very good team but it’s hard to beat the Falcons in their dome. Falcons 31, Saints 27
Tennessee at Carolina–If Andy Dalton can lead the Bengals to victory in Nashville, Cam Newton should be able to do some damage to the Titans as well. Panthers 28, Titans 21
Detroit at Chicago–An old school match up and one that is relevant again. Lions 26, Bears 17
Pittsburgh at Cincinnati–the first real test of the season for the division-leading Bengals. Ehhh, no, I can’t do it. Steelers 17, Bengals 14
St. Louis at Cleveland–is it a misprint that the Browns have won three games this season? Browns 20, Rams 14
Buffalo at Dallas–Boy, could we ever use some help here. and we should get it as the ‘Boys will underestimate the Bills. Bills 35, Cowboys 34
Jacksonville at Indianapolis–Speaking of misprints, the standings say that the Jags have scored 98 points, the lowest point total in the NFL. the Colts have played one more game than Jacksonville, but have scored 128, so 14.22 points per game to the Jags’ 12.25. This limb is a long one, but I’m going out on it. Colts 17, Jags 13
Denver at Kansas City--Another division clash of two fiercely mediocre teams. and the Chiefs proved last week that they are still mired in that mediocrity, while anything goes for Denver with the mighty Tebow. Broncos 24, Chiefs 21
Washington at Miami–last week I picked correctly as the Dolphins upset the Chiefs. But now that they have the proverbial monkey off their back, they will get back to doing what they usually do at home–lose. Redskins 17, Dolphins 16
Arizona at Philadelphia–Boy, could we ever use some help here too. But it’s just not gonna happen. Eagles 38, Cards 17
Houston at Tampa Bay–As Josh Freeman and company fight for their playoff lives, Houston tries to hang on to a division lead they really should have no problem hanging on to. But they won’t win this one. Bucs 30, Texans 27
Baltimore at Seattle–This one has the potential to be extremely lopsided. Ravens 27, Seahawks 7
NY Giants at San Francisco–Our defense should be able to limit Alex Smith and Frank Gore, and while the Niners rank first against the rush, they are 22nd against the pass. the key will be limiting mistakes. Giants 20, Niners 17
New England at NY Jets–the Jets were revived with that win in Buffalo last week, but there is absolutely no way the Patriots lose three in a row. and lookee here….Sunday night has another good game! Patriots 31, Jets 26
Minnesota at Green Bay–You might want to cover your eyes. Packers 42, Vikings 17
