Tzu Chi Foundation LI branch is hosting a Flu Vaccination and Health Promotion event. According to CDC, everyone should be vaccinated against flu. we will only be vaccinating 18 or older for this event. Participants should not have a fever, be allergic to egg, or have a adverse reaction to prior flu shot. Flu shots will be free to the uninsured. Sunday, November 13Blue Ribbon Run” for Prostate Cancer/Men’s Health

Bringing together athletes, cancer survivors, caretakers, family members, physicians, corporate teams and friends for this heartwarming community event, the “Blue Ribbon Run” will prove to be a challenging course for the running enthusiast. the race will take place at the Town of Oyster Bay Golf course, Woodbury. There will be an onsite health fair as well as free prostate cancer screenings. Integrated Medical Foundation has announced that Abbott Pharmaceuticals will be the Premier partner and Shiel Medical Laboratory will be the local lead sponsor of the “Blue Ribbon Run” for Men’s Health and Prostate Cancer Awareness. Integrated Medical Foundation’s mission is to improve healthcare through patient education and community outreach. It provides educational programs, prostate cancer screenings and support groups. From Pastor to Rabbi

A journey into the foundation of their faith led a California pastor and his wife to a destination they had not anticipated. Yaakov Ephraim Parisi and his wife, Sarah Devorah, began their journey of discovery in the late ’80s, when he was serving as pastor of an Evangelical Christian church in California. In 1992 they became pastors of their own church in southern Oklahoma. Eventually they began to embrace Torah concepts, observing Shabbat and keeping kosher. when their church closed, they began the rigorous process of conversion to Judaism. Today, Parisi said he and his wife are Torah-observant Chabad Jews, spending part of the year in Israel and part in Morristown, where Parisi is a full-time student at the Rabbinical College of America. Thursday, November 17OWASP and IEEE Joint Meeting

OWASP is a worldwide charitable organization focused on improving the security of application software. IEEE Computer Society is the world’s leading organization of computer professionals. North Shore Synagogue’s Committee for LifeLong Learning presents a screening of Everything is Illuminated, followed by a discussion program and light refreshments. the film is the tale of a young Jewish man who endeavors to find the woman who saved his grandfather during WWII in a Ukrainian village that was ultimately razed by the Nazis, with the help of an eccentric local. the 2005 movie is based on the book of the same name by Jonathan Safran Foer. COPE, a grief and healing organization dedicated to supporting parents and families living with the loss of a child, holds free weekly support groups. Stroke Life Society is a community organization of survivors and co-survivors in the pursuit of living and helping others. Ongoing EventsMuttontown Unitarian Universalist Fellowship

The Fellowship provides an atmosphere of warmth and comraderie, with talks presented by intelligent enlightening and non-dogmatic speakers who come from the entire spectrum of the Arts, History and Sciences. This is followed by coffee and an informal discussion circle, held in the turn-of-the-18th century farmhouse in a bucolic setting. Port North Basketball

Port North is a 3 year old independent basketball team based out of Port Washington that plays year round in the super league at Island Garden and various tournaments in the metropolitan area. while the team has enjoyed success winning championships in 7th and 8th grade divisions this past season the emphasis is on teaching the fundamentals, developing good practice habits and preparing players for middle and high school basketball. the team has a professional trainer with over 20 years experience. we are currently looking for several experienced players in 6th, 7th and 8th grades and a forward for a 9th grade team. if you are interested or have any questions please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
